Hey, Welcome to the W4 Ranch website. It feels really good to have the website up and running. I didn't really have any I idea how time consuming gathering the information would be. Special thanks to Katie and Pam from Cowboy Oriented Websites(COWS) on a great job.
Things here on the ranch have been pretty hectic. Below average rainfall has all producers in our area scrambling to put up enough hay and feed for the upcoming winter. Due to that fact the corn has all dried up and silage was chopped about 3-4 weeks earlier than normal it has been a mad dash to find enough custom choppers to get it all done. Silage is a big part of our program. All the bulls are developed on a silage ration and fed out in our bull development center. Which consists of a 100 acre mountain with fence line bunks on one end and water on the other end. In between the bunks and water is a mountain cut up into 20 acre traps. The pens are long and narrow and go up and over the mountain. We feel this is the secret to our bulls success for our commercial customers. This offers a rugged terrain to build muscle and develop feet and legs that will stand up in the harshest environment.
July is almost upon us and we have had a few decent rains lately. Looks like we might finally get a cutting of hay. We just got home from the State Jr. Preview Show this past weekend. It was held in Belton, Tx at the Bell County Expo Center. It was a great event and the juniors led out some great cattle. Competition was extremely tight and ran deep in all the classes. Congratulations to all the juniors. A BIG THANK YOU to Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Younts for all the hospitality and hard work they put in to make it such a great weekend.
If your ever in the area feel free to drop in and check out the W4 Ranch program and see what we could do for your herd. Until next time...
